Soybean Growers Rally Support for WSF 2010 Acre Challenge on World Food Day

October 22, 2009...Source: ASA Leader Letter...World Food Day on Oct. 16, provided soybean growers with an opportunity to communicate their support for the World Soy Foundation’s (WSF) 2010 Acre Challenge and show how their crop is part of the solution to global hunger.

Across the nation, 15 soybean growers have committed to serving as friends of the 2010 Acre Challenge and are inviting their fellow growers to join them in contributing the value of an acre of soybeans. WSF, a 501c3 charitable organization and a program of the American Soybean Association’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health program, has provided packets of information for the farmer leaders as well as worked with states on communicating the role of farmers in their state in the Acre Challenge.

Farmer support is particularly timely in light of new reports that a record one in six people in the world today is malnourished.

World Food Day is a worldwide event designed to increase awareness, understanding and informed, year-around action to alleviate hunger.
